Community Action. Inc. (CAI) is accepting applications for the following three categories of CAI’s Gerald Goldman Memorial Scholarship Program - graduating high school senior, HiSet recipient and post- secondary student. Each category awards one $1,000 scholarship to an area resident that meets the eligibility criteria. The scholarships are named after Gerald Goldman, the Executive Director of Community Action, who passed away in 1995. Community Action presents these scholarships in his honor.
Students from Haverhill, Amesbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, Groveland, Georgetown, Boxford, Rowley, Newbury, West Newbury, and Merrimac are eligible. Applicants must supply proof of their enrollment in a full-time college program and/or demonstrate in writing their acceptance in a college program. HiSet applicants must have received a HiSet Diploma and show acceptance into a college program.
In addition applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor. Applicants must also complete a 200 – 500 word essay on how their post secondary education experience will help them enhance the principles of Gerald Goldman in their own lives or how continuing education will help them make a difference in their own communities. The scholarship will be awarded in the summer.
