Interested in learning more about your child's development and to discover ways to support your child at home?
The Ages & Stages Questionnaire is a great way to support your child's development. FCC offers the Ages & Stages Questionnaires FREE of charge for all families in the communities we serve: Amesbury, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Merrimac, Newburyport and West Newbury.
The Ages & Stages parent-directed questionnaire is available to fill out on-line. Parents and caregivers can now complete the survey at home. The questionnaire is available for children ages newborn through age 5.
To receive a link to questionnaire or to setup a time to meet, simply contact:
Melanie Tamberino, FCC Director, 978-914-7893
(If you take the questionnaire online we will set up a time to speak in person to go over the results. )
Screenings begin as early as one month old and are appropriate for children up to 5 years old. Learn more at Why Screenings Matter.
The Kindergarten Ready program is for children 4 and 5 years old. Children who do not go to formal preschool benefit from this program by offering them the following experiences and also gives parents the opportunity to help and be involved in their child's learning process. This program includes:
Class size is limited. Check our Community Calendar for current schedule
Free monthly Parent Support and Discussion Groups are offered in partnership with Thom Early Intervention. Classes are facilitated by an Early Intervention Professional and cover a wide range of topics. Please check our schedule for topics, time and location.
We have openings in our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday integrated playgroups located at FCC in Haverhill. The groups are composed of six children in Early Intervention and three FCC community children. This is a wonderful opportunity for children between the ages 18-36 months to participate in a facilitated play group.
There is one teacher and two teacher assistants who lead a two hour session that includes music, movement, sensory activities, free play, books and snack. Age-appropriate activities to encourage turn taking, social interaction, physical development and language enrichment are provided. The classroom routine is similar from week to week so the children learn what to expect from their time in the group.
Once your child has comfortably transitioned into the class, you have the opportunity to attend a parent group facilitated by an Early Intervention staff member. Children really enjoy being involved with their peers and the parent support group makes it possible for parents to meet other parents with children of similar age.
There is no cost for the community children participating. Children must have had a physical within the last year and all immunizations should be up to date.
Join us for free play, art and gross motor activities setup to encourage children's exploration. Activities are planned, however spontaneous play happens. Parents stay in the room to supervise and play with their children, but are encouraged to mingle with other parents. Group sizes will be limited. Registration is required.
